22 students graduated from the Church Planter's Training Program on February 13th. The results of their one year practicum are as follows:
- 29 cell groups established
- 4 churches planted (with attendance ranging from 27 to 70 per church
- 10 children's groups established
Ten Year Goals
The National Committee of the Cambodian Assemblies of God has determined that by the end of 2013 they plan to:
- Expand new church plants into all provinces that currently have no Assemblies of God churches
- To have at least 100 churches throughout the country
- To have a total membership of over 10,000 people
Recent Cambodian Assemblies of God Church and Missions History
Summer 1990 - Assemblies of God missionaries Ron Maddux, Bob Houlihan and Les Kenney received permission from the Cambodian government to send our first ever resident Assemblies of God missionaries into the country. At this time the Assemblies of God becomes one of only three officially recognized Christian church groups. During this time, Troy Tabor was completing his internship under the supervision of Ron Maddux and became very close to what was happening with the preparations for our first missionaries to enter the country.
Fall 1990 - Assemblies of God missionaries Randy and Carolyn Dorsey arrive in Cambodia to become the first resident AG missionaries in Cambodia. They oversee, along with other missionaries who followed, the establishment of two orphanages, two clinics, a district hospital, a public school, and English language training program at the National Faculty of Medicine and the establishment of the national church.
May 1992 - Troy and Lisa Tabor are officially approved as Assemblies of God career missionaries to Cambodia and begin the process of itinerating and raising support.
1993 - The national committee of the Assemblies of God Cambodia was established, made up of two Cambodians and one Vietnamese.
January 1994 - Troy and Lisa Tabor arrive in Cambodia for the first time and begin working with orphanages and churches in the province of Kompong Cham.
April 1997 - Troy and Lisa relocate to Phnom Penh to fill the role of media ministries director.
Summer 1997 - In order to meet the Cambodian governments requirements to distinguish the national church from the humanitarian and relief projects being run by missionaries under the non-government organization (NGO) AOG Cambodia, the Cambodian Assemblies of God (CAG) was officially organized and held their first national church elections. Five committee members were elected from among the 12 churches that had been planted. These five men continued to be advised by an international committee made up of ten Assemblies of God missionaries from a number of sending countries including the USA, France, Australia and the Philippines. Church bylaws were adopted, local pastors were recognized and credentialed, and regular quarterly ministers meetings were started.
2001 - The national committee of the Cambodian Assemblies of God (CAG) organized a special Christmas celebration to be held at the Cambodia Bible Institute of the Assemblies of God in Phnom Penh . Believers from all provincial CAG churches were invited, and more than 1200 people participated.
2002 - Annual pastors retreats begin to be organized for pastors and their families in the coastal town of Kompot.
2003 - The National Committee of the Cambodian Assemblies of God opens a permanent office and develops a ten year plan to continue to reach out to the nation with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
