Gen X Media Group

Despite Cambodia's tragic past and instability, the country is changing at an incredible pace. Extremes of living conditions coexist side by side throughout the country. For example, despite many areas that still lack basic services such as clean water and electricity, digital cell phone service is available nationwide and even poor moto-taxi drivers can be seen on every corner sending and receiving text messages over their cell phones..

In the midst of this change, many voices are using media to compete for the attention of the Cambodian people, whether it's locally produced films, karaoke videos, public concerts and talent shows, internet café's, or iPods and MP3 players. As Christians, we believe that the church should use these same tools to not just keep pace with this developing media culture, but to be leaders, using state of the art professional standards to speak the love and grace of Jesus Christ to the nation.

Troy is working together with a missionary from the Australian Assemblies of God to set up a professional media production company called Gen X. Gen X gives the church a voice in the media by bringing together Christian professionals from the music and video industry in Cambodia. This company then becomes a resource for the church to use to more effectively communicate the gospel through immerging media. From the very start of the company, various churches and Christian organizations have partnered together with them to create videos, radio programs and music recordings.

In addition to professional media recording and editing, Gen X also holds outreaches and concerts in various provinces to share the gospel with local communities. Ultimately, Gen X hopes to use the platform they have created through their media work to plant an inner-city youth oriented church in the capital city of Phnom Penh.

In addition to using Gen X as a resource for various productions, Troy serves on Gen X's advisory board and as their video production consultant.
