Old Testament Radio Drama

Although the church in Cambodia has grown quickly over the last 10 years, they continue to struggle with discipleship. One reason for this is the low level of education among the Cambodian people. Today, about 60 % of the population is functionally illiterate, and even those who can read don't have a "habit" of reading. Consequently, Cambodian Christians don't typically develop a habit of Bible study; most Christians only know those portions of scripture that they hear their pastor read in church on Sunday. To address this problem, and to effectively speak into the average Cambodian Christian's life, Troy and Lisa are using stories from the Old Testament to teach New Testament principles that can be applied in their lives today.

In a new half hour radio program, stories from the Old Testament are brought to life through a full cast of characters, sound effects and original Cambodian music recorded by the Royal Court musicians. Beginning with the prophet Samuel anointing Saul to be Israel's first king, the stories of I and II Samuel are serialized from week to week. At the end of each episode a local Cambodian pastor then re-caps the story, highlighting a specific New Testament principle illustrated in the story, and shows how that principle can be applied in the peoples lives today in Cambodia. The program is then broadcast on a local FM radio station that reaches 75% of the country!
